It has been coming for a long time now, but this has been the year in which the Coachella FOMO wave has reached the outskirts of the Internet. With brands such as Chloe testing the indie sleaze waters and Isabel Marant wedge sneakers making a comeback, cultural hits of the 2010s were bound to be relevant again, and it seems like Coachella is going to be their representative.
I was so excited to catch the Coachella fever this year, even though I don't love conceptual outfits simply because I find them too costumey and unimaginative and yet cannot bash the basic ones because I respect people who don’t care. So I’ll just talk about the ones I loved:
Tara Yummy
I admittedly hated her first day outfit, but she really came through with her other ones. My fav thing about this is how she's dressing for the emo/scene kids who also happen to be really into Paris Hilton. I also loved the combination of fur boots, hair extensions, fake tattoos and studded accessories; welcome back Avril Lavigne.
Her day 3 fit was also super cute. It’s hard to successfully mix two different jean shades, but it's even harder to do so with two different cheetah prints and not look crazy.
Adrienne Reau
I’m not easily impressed by DIY fits, but she did sew those buttons one by one a day before the festival. The shorts look super cute, the bracelets and nails are a vibe and she looks stunning.
“Professional bowler goes to the circus in her grandma's panties”. Or something like that. Anyway I think it's charming.
P.D. I didn't like her day 2 outfit but the ruff was so pretty, I hope she wears it again.
Charlotte D’Alessio
Love her or hate her, she found the perfect Coachella dress. The belt and bag combo is perfect and… Listen. I get the shoe choice, even though she probably had a million better options in her closet.
Alessandra Ambrosio
This one just throws me back to when Vanessa Hudgens ruled Coachella. In a very good way. I’m really into the leather and lace combo right now, and the belt looks amazing with the boots. Also obsessed with how the mix of volumes and lengths doesn't look forced. I do hate the bag though.
I’m just fascinated with people who are able to mix prints and textures as successfully as she did here. Also, out of all the Coachella bags I’ve seen so far, hers is definitely my favorite. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Zoi Lerma
The accessories are so well-chosen it kind of doesn't matter what she's wearing. The boots are perfect.
Tana Mongeau
She didn't even try this year… And yet. Although it is kind of weird that so many people chose to wear fur to the desert, I actually think a fur skirt is perfect for Coachella, especially if you end up conceptually matching Doja Cat.
She had a second fur moment. This one’s slightly off, if only because the top looked a little too tight on her. I love the proportions of this one regardless; big boots with even bigger boots are A Moment.
Patrick Ta
I love this one for some reason. My only note would be that the necklace game could be better, but I’ve recently stopped hating on pearl necklaces so.
Alix Earle
The devil’s in the details. Is it basic? Yes. Do I love the t-shirt and the jorts? Absolutely. I happen to be really into any item of clothing from which you can read. The boots and belts are also very cute.
Celeb moments
Hailey Bieber
I don’t usually love what she wears but she kind of did something for me with this one. The headband is crazy.
A$ap Rocky
Bag is Crazy. Pants are crazy. Face card Crazy. Whatever.
Anyway, let's see what next week brings us.
